2005 Tri-State Tillage Conference Evaluation
January 25, 2005

The Tri-State (NY, OH, PA) Tillage Conference is conducted to communicate research-based ecological, technological, and economic information about modern tillage methods. The program is designed, conducted, and supported by local producers, educators, and agribusiness to develop sound, sustainable cropping systems for producers who live in the area.

One hundred twenty-one (121) people attended the meeting. Six were women and 5 were Anabaptists, and 42 participants completed an evaluation survey. Interested respondents were asked to respond to questions to reflect their opinions or intended changes in management or knowledge. Respondents were asked to suggest modifications to the program and indicated future interest in topics or presenters. Here are the some of the results of that survey:

Number of acres that you farm that are owned or rented:
39 responses -- 30,550 total acres--783 acres per person (average)

Number of acres that you farm using conservation tillage:
39 responses -- 19,359 total acres--496 acres per person (average)

As a result of attenting this conference, how likely are you to...:
modify a forage tillage practice?

very likely      9 of 42 (21%)
moderately likely      18 of 42 (43%)
not likely      3 of 42 (7%)
does not apply      12 of 42 (29%)

moderately likely      18 of 42 (43%)
not likely      5 of 42 (12%)
does not apply      3 of 42 (7%)
