The Pennsylvania Association of Resource Conservation and Development (PARCD) Councils embarked on providing project oversight and guidance on a statewide project during 2007 that provided technical assistance on weed control and wildlife habitat to landowners enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP). The project was the “Weed Control and Wildlife Habitat Technical Assistance Project”. The PARCD Council worked closely with the Pocono Northeast Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council to develop, implement, and administer the project on the statewide level. While each of the nine RC&D Councils within the Commonwealth: Capital, Community Partnerships, Endless Mountains, Headwaters, Penn’s Corner, Penn Soil, Pocono Northeast, Southern Alleghenies, and Southeastern PA all worked diligently to implement the project locally within their respective RC&D Council areas. Click this link for a statewide summary of the project. Penn Soil RC&D carried out an extensive information
program to the residents of the eight counties we serve. Some of
the highlights of the outreach program include offering free on-site
technical assistance to over 400 landowners participating in the CREP
program. The RC&D contracted with six County Conservation
Districts, Pheasants Forever, and a private contractor to conduct the
field visits to CREP participants. The contractors provided
educational resource materials to help the landowners manage their CREP
acreage better. Penn Soil RC&D also developed a portable
educational display and produced a

and Wildlife Habitat Management Guide for CREP participants.

Statewide, the PA Association of RC&D Councils worked with Penn State University to develop a number of fact sheets that were also made available to CREP Participants through the one on one field review team. Click on the title of the Fact sheet below to view or print the fact sheet.
